End of Abyss Particle Disruptor Location: The Infirmary's Prize

The Particle Disruptor is the arsenal’s crown — an experimental prototype locked at the end of the optional Infirmary area, behind an optional boss and a burnable wall. Upgrading it at a workbench earns the “Overload” trophy, making it the completionist’s last weapon box to tick.

Step 1: Get the Infirmary Key

The key is in Lower Levels > F1 — burn the Parasitic Spire in the right-side labs with the Incinerator. The Incinerator is a story pickup in the same zone, so this is doable the moment the flamethrower lands; the Spire drops the Infirmary Key.

Step 2: Reach the Infirmary

Ride the lift beside the Habitation Sector’s Fast Travel Shuttle — the door on its right takes the Infirmary Key. The Infirmary is a short optional area: the facility’s old medical wing, now full of Infected Patients, Infected Doctors, and Head Crawlers.

Step 3: Kill the Morgue Dweller

  1. On F1, grab the Restricted Access Keycard from the small room.
  2. Use it on the door at the top of the right-side corridor to reach B1.
  3. The Morgue Dweller boss waits on the right side of B1 — full strategy in the optional bosses guide.

Step 4: Burn the wall

After the boss, continue north and burn the wall in the top right corner — the item box in the small room behind it holds the Particle Disruptor. A related logbook note, “Prototype PD-09,” sits in the Lower Levels F1 labs if you’re chasing the story behind it (see logbook completion).

Is it worth it?

For collectors, unmissable — it’s the sixth weapon, a trophy, and the strongest toy for post-game cleanup. In the hand it’s a charge-up cannon: the in-game card bills it as “extremely powerful when upgraded” with a slow fire rate, and you hold the trigger to charge each shot. Since it arrives after the final boss for most players, its real job is powering through leftover Data Shard routes and optional fights. Upgrade path and kit context: weapons overview.
