End of Abyss Riot Breaker: Location and How the Shotgun Works

The Riot Breaker is the first weapon you add to the kit after the starting Pulse Gun — a shotgun built for the moments when pistol pressure isn’t fast enough. It’s lying directly on the critical path, but in a room that’s easy to run past without looking sideways.

Where to find the Riot Breaker

Habitation Sector > F1, in the room behind the open window near Security — the same room the story sends you through to unseal the shuttle corridor.

  1. Progress Part 1 of the story until the objective sends you back into the Habitation Sector (covered step by step in walkthrough part 1).
  2. In the corridor south of Security, look for an open window on the right — vault through it.
  3. The Riot Breaker sits in plain sight inside; the PC that opens the shuttle door is at the far end of the same room.

It’s functionally unmissable — the room is mandatory — but players who sprint for the PC walk out without the gun.

How does it play?

High damage with real knockback, in exchange for genuinely scarce shells. Three jobs define it:

  • Crowd control. A blast shoves a pack backward — it’s a spacing tool as much as a kill tool, and buys the second a dodge-roll needs. This is the answer to the Husk Cluster’s add waves.
  • Stagger. Big single hits interrupt enemy actions — most famously, a well-timed blast cancels the Fractured Being’s gravity attack in the final boss fight.
  • Burst windows. Bosses that expose brief punish windows — the Security Sentinel’s post-dash recovery, the Drowned Husk’s lunge recovery — eat full shells for free.

Shell discipline

Treat shells as a resource, not a magazine. The Pulse Gun handles routine threats for free; the Riot Breaker is for situations that are actually dangerous. When you do run dry, safe-room workbenches craft more ammunition from gathered materials — the loop is covered in the combat guide and weapons overview.

Can you upgrade it?

Yes — weapons upgrade at workbenches, and maxing any one weapon earns the “Power Up” trophy; maxing them all earns “Super Power.” If the Riot Breaker is your crowd answer, it’s one of the best candidates for early upgrade materials alongside the Pulse Gun.
